In April 2006, Doyles Room announced a switch from Tribeca Tables' software to the faster-growing Microgaming base, known to some as Prima Poker. This does not bring much change to the average and former DoylesRoom player, except that you have a slightly different software package added with plenty of casino games. The lobby comes with great folder-like filters that help you find what you're looking for. The tables are easy to understand and the players are easily estinguished. Aside from player notes and such, DoylesRoom also supports mini table views, allowing for more multi table games. The only real downside of this software is the rather tedious registration process, but once you've completed that step, you are likely going to enjoy it
Playability
Doyles room have high traffic during peak times. The traffic is mostly in the Texas Holdem No Limit gaming. Omaha players will be able to find some competition too. Most of the traffic is in ring games
Game Variety
DoylesRoom offers a nice game variety, with some of the higher-stakes cash games and tournaments available. The games offered at DoylesRoom are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Stud and Five-Card Draw. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, short-handed, and heads-up tables are all available.
There are high-limit tables with $150/$300 stakes in Fixed-Limit, $200/$400 in No-Limit Texas Hold'em and micro-limit tables as low as 2¢/5¢. The only strange thing about the game variety is the absence of Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo, which seems strange considering they spread the High version. The large player base ensures action at most game varieties and stakes, making DoylesRoom a very good site for pretty much all poker players.

Player Level
You won't find the biggest fish here, however, you won't be disappointed either. The typical player at Doyles Room is below the average. Unfortunately, most of the fish is in Texas Hold'em No Limit, preferably at the lower stakes but sometimes even at $2/$4. Flops are usually viewed 40-45 % of the times, which is quite high
Overall Rating
DoylesRoom started offering poker in 2004, and was very successful in attracting players with the endorsement of one of the most famous players in the world. The bulk of those players were American, of course, so the passing of the UIGEA late last year struck the site very hard and a huge portion of its player base was lost.
Since the shift to the Microgaming network, however, (moving from the Tribeca network in 2006), the site once again boasts high traffic, a wide game variety and an extensive range of table limits. And now, as of October 18, 2007, the site is again accepting U.S. players, so traffic can only be expected to rise.
The software provides very useful stats as well as three different table sizes: large, normal and mini view. It's stable and reliable, and the graphics are nice and kind of "old school," with a wood grain feel. The functions are also well placed and easy to use.
The games offered at DoylesRoom are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw and Five-Card Stud. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, short-handed, and heads-up tables are all available. Real money player statistics as of May 2008 show 2,000 ring-game players at peak hours, and 10,000 tournament players at peak hours.
Overall, DoylesRoom offers great action, good game diversity and software that plays very well. The software is updated frequently to ensure safety and stability, with very little downtime as a result. |
