Graphics

The tables at Gnuf Poker are fairly simple; a turquoise felt with a black background. Gnuf does not use avatars. 4-colour decks are available. You can also choose whether to display borders for each player that show whether they have acted yet; game markers that show how much was bet and how many players were in for every round; and a hand description that only you can see

Gnuf Poker's software is average, and tends to be a resource hog. Those with slower computers are sometimes well-served using the Windows Task Manager to increase the priority of Gnuf in order to avoid lagging. The Gnuf lobby has a couple of different ways to access games. The "Quick Start" allows you to select your game, table size, limit, and stakes, and then will take you to the first available table. Alternatively, you can find tables via a cascading menu similar to the left hand menu pane in Windows Explorer. This lets you drill right down to the limit you want to play, which makes for a nice clean list.

There are both "Hide Full Tables" and "Hide Empty Tables" checkboxes, which are nice. The table list includes Average Pot Size, PF%, and Hands/Hr. Waiting lists work quite smoothly at the Microgaming network.

Full-ring games are 10-player, and shorthanded games are 6-player. Shorthanded games are played on a 10-seat table, using the bottom half of the table. There are 3 table sizes available, although the large view is the same as the normal view, but with the chat box on the side of the table, making it quite large while not changing the actual poker table size.

There is also a mini-view, which is about 75% of the normal table size, and has a much more utilitarian appearance. The cashier varies widely at different rooms on the Microgaming network.

Playability

Gnuf Poker is part of the Microgaming Poker Network (formerly known as Prima), which is one of the largest poker networks in the world. Expect over 10,000 players at peak times, and a variety of games running. Expect all Hold'em games and sit-n-gos to be well populated, but you may have a harder time finding someone to play Omaha, Stud or 5 Card Draw.

Game Variety

Gnuf Poker offers the following games: Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Stud and Five-Card Draw. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit.

Player Level

The Microgaming network has an interesting mix of players. The low limits tend to attract a lot of tight bonus grinders due to the good bonus clearing often available at these limits. However, there are always a few fish to be found – table selection is critical at Microgaming, as is the time of day. At the quieter times, table selection just isn't possible.

Overall Rating

gnuf.com offers online gaming in a new and friendly environment where players feel at ease. It is a place to call home, where you find many of the unique promotions and game offers combined with a feature-packed community. The Poker, and soon to come Casino & Bingo, offer exciting and continuously updated promotions, and all have a common denominator in the inviting

community and family feel that is Gnuf.

Gnuf has created a unique look and feel with the Microgaming platform; the Instant Play client that uses Flash technology, the amazing looking Downloadable client that permits play at 10 tables simultaneously.

Gnuf has taken a niched position with the graphical layout. Gnuf has a refined and fresh approach, with a clear focus on making the players feel safe and at home. The Gnuf trademark is definitely the community, and all graphics have intentionally been selected to reflect the Gnuf Family values of simplicity, friendliness and fun. See for yourself!
